WWE lists new Riyadh venue for Crown Jewel after earlier change; Saudi authorities report drone interception
WWE Crown Jewel, scheduled for November 7 in Riyadh, is now listed at The Venue after a recent change from Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD. Riyadh Season gave no reason for the move. Separately, Saudi authorities say they intercepted a drone they attribute to Iran-backed Houthis, a claim the Houthis deny.
WWE's Crown Jewel event, set for November 7 in Riyadh, is now listed at The Venue after being previously scheduled for Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD, according to a recent venue update. Riyadh Season announced the change earlier this week but did not provide a reason.
The Venue is the same arena hosting the Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Christian Mbilli boxing match this Saturday and was also the planned location for the postponed Six Kings Slam tennis event, per the listing.
Separately, Saudi authorities said on Friday they intercepted a drone they attributed to the Iran-backed Houthi movement that was allegedly launched toward Mecca. The Houthis have denied targeting Mecca; Yahya Saree, speaking for the group, said its military operations are "aimed at Saudi oil facilities and military bases."
The venue update and the Saudi statement about the intercepted drone were reported by POST Wrestling.
