WWE War Games plans adjusted after Stephanie Vaquer illness; four names floated as replacements
Stephanie Vaquer was ruled out of this week’s Raw due to an illness that will sideline her for several weeks, and WrestleTalk lists Giulia, Asuka, Paige and Sol Ruca as possible late additions to the women’s War Games roster.
WWE’s announced Raw singles match between Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer was cancelled after Vaquer was unable to compete, and reports indicate the absence is due to an illness that will keep her out for several weeks but is not expected to be long-term.
Vaquer had been listed among the likely entrants in the women’s War Games match WWE has been building on television. With her temporary absence, WrestleTalk has identified several names who could fill the vacant spot on the babyface side of the card.
The advertised War Games build has Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, IYO SKY, Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer facing Judgment Day, Nikki Bella and Blake Monroe. WrestleTalk framed the following four as plausible replacements; the site’s reporting is speculative and has not been confirmed by WWE.
- Giulia — Giulia was defeated by Blake Monroe on the October 23 SmackDown. Given Monroe’s recent win and his teased interest in Chelsea Green’s WWE Women’s Championship, WrestleTalk suggested Giulia would serve as a logical counter to Monroe if he remains the last heel entrant.
- Asuka — Asuka last wrestled at WWE Backlash in Tampa, losing to IYO SKY, and has recently stated she has not retired and remains with WWE. WrestleTalk proposed a return appearance where Asuka comes to the aid of IYO as a plausible War Games angle.
- Paige — With Nikki Bella scheduled to challenge Chelsea Green on SmackDown and an ongoing feud between Nikki and Paige dating back to SummerSlam, WrestleTalk named Paige the most obvious replacement, noting Paige recently scored a pin over Nikki in their latest encounter.
- Sol Ruca — Sol Ruca lost the Intercontinental Championship to Raquel Rodriguez on the July 27 Raw. WrestleTalk argued WWE’s recent emphasis on newer names could make Sol Ruca an attractive, fresh option for the War Games card, particularly given her issues with Judgment Day.
None of these replacements has been confirmed by WWE; the lineup could change further as Vaquer’s recovery timeline becomes clearer. This account is based on WrestleTalk’s reporting.
