Don Callis Family eyes 'all the gold' in AEW — but adding women could be the missing piece
Leader Don Callis has said his faction wants ‘all the gold.’ The Don Callis Family has held multiple AEW titles since forming in May 2023, but the World Championship and the women’s division remain unrepresented — and WrestleTalk argues expansion onto the women’s roster would help.
Don Callis’ faction has publicly set its sights on capturing every AEW title, but a review of its run since forming in May 2023 shows some clear gaps that could be closed by broadening the group’s membership.
Members of the Don Callis Family have held six different AEW championships to date. The group is most closely linked to the International Championship, which has seen six reigns involving Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher, while Kazuchika Okada has held the belt twice and is cited as the current International Champion. Okada has also held the Continental Championship and, at one point, been recognised as AEW Unified Champion by virtue of holding both belts.
Other gold won by the faction includes the Continental, National and World Trios Championships. Fletcher is a two-time TNT Champion, and Kevin Knight has also held the TNT title.
Two notable absences remain: the AEW World Championship and any titles on the women’s side. The World Championship is currently held by Will Ospreay, and the ongoing rivalry between Ospreay and Fletcher — which dates back to Fletcher defeating Ospreay at Full Gear in 2024 — is, WrestleTalk notes, set to be revisited at Full Gear on November 14.
WrestleTalk suggests the simplest route to the faction truly taking “all the gold” is expansion into AEW’s women’s ranks. Bringing in women’s roster members would open the door to new title combinations and fresh programming; for example, the idea of a male World Champion aligned with a Women’s World Champion was raised as a way to elevate the faction’s profile.
The piece also notes recent developments on the women’s side: Queen Aminata was recently crowned TBS Champion, defeating Persephone on Fright Night Dynamite, while the Brawling Birds currently hold the Women’s World Tag Team Championship and are members of United Empire. WrestleTalk lists several female performers already aligned with other factions — Willow Nightingale (The Conglomeration), Marina Shafir (Death Riders), Taya Valkyrie (MXM TV), Trish Adora and Christyan XO (Shane Taylor Promotions/The Infantry), Leila Grey and Zayda Steel (Skyflight), and Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter (United Empire) — and argues the Don Callis Family has so far missed the chance to recruit from AEW’s women’s roster.
