Fightful reports WWE does not plan to change the taping schedule for Friday Night SmackDown and will present the New Year's Day episode as a taped show rather than moving it to a live broadcast opposite AEW's New Year's Smash.

The update was discussed on the WrestleVotes segment of Fightful Select, which examined how WWE and All Elite Wrestling are handling their year-start programming. According to Fightful, WWE has no plans to reshape SmackDown's schedule to go head-to-head live with AEW on that date.

Fightful and its WrestleVotes segment are credited as the sources for the reporting on WWE's intentions for the SmackDown broadcast format on New Year's Day.
