PWInsider reports that long-serving WWE executive Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his full-time role with the company after WrestleMania 43 and remain with WWE in a consulting capacity. The report, as relayed by WrestleTalk, says WWE is preparing to promote Shawn Michaels into Prichard’s current position.

Michaels, a WWE Hall of Famer who has served as head of NXT and Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative since September 2021, is said to be part of a succession plan and will begin preparing for the transition in the months ahead of Prichard’s planned departure, according to PWInsider.

The reports raise immediate questions about leadership at NXT. WrestleTalk notes Michaels could retain some involvement with NXT after moving into a broader company role, but suggests he would likely step back from day-to-day control to focus on the larger responsibilities reportedly planned for him.

WrestleTalk and PWInsider list several internal names who could be considered to replace Michaels at NXT if he moves up. Possibilities mentioned include Gabe Sapolsky (identified with WWE Evolve), Jeremy Borash (noted for work alongside the Undertaker in AAA) and other veteran figures within WWE. The pieces also reference frequent NXT and Performance Center visitors such as AJ Styles and CM Punk as speculative names linked to the brand’s future.

These developments are reported by PWInsider and summarized by WrestleTalk. WWE has not issued formal confirmation of a timeline or personnel changes beyond what has been reported.
