TNA veteran Jeff Hardy is reportedly coping with bulging discs in his neck as he prepares to be off TNA television for a period of time, according to reporting from Fightful Select.

The reported absence was already expected to coincide with TNA’s Canadian television tapings, with Fightful Select saying the schedule was planned around Hardy’s previous legal matters. Sources told the outlet that while Hardy is being treated for bulging discs in his neck, surgery is not currently anticipated.

Those same sources indicated a possible return when TNA holds television tapings in Texas in December.

Context and on-screen angle

The report follows a violent cinematic segment on a recent episode of iMPACT, where Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw attacked Jeff Hardy during a Slaughterhouse sYX match. In that segment, the duo separated Jeff from his brother Matt Hardy, placed a metal trash can over Jeff’s head and struck it with axes as part of the storyline.

Matt Hardy has previously suggested on his podcast that Jeff might take time away from wrestling to address neck issues, telling listeners that Jeff has dealt with a bulging disc for about a year and could step away to pursue treatment options.

This article consolidates WrestleZone’s coverage of the iMPACT segment and the reporting from Fightful Select regarding Jeff Hardy’s injury and planned absence. The situation is being reported rather than confirmed by TNA or Hardy’s camp.
