Ex-WWE Star CJ Perry Says Her Debut Novel 'Bulletproof Angel' Is Already Being Adapted for Film

CJ Perry — the former WWE performer previously known on-screen as Lana — has announced that her debut novel Bulletproof Angel is already moving toward the screen. Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring with her husband, Rusev, Perry said the project is in development and that work is underway to assemble the film package.
The spy thriller was co-written by Perry and author Blake Northcott as part of Paradigm’s book-to-film initiative, which pairs athletes with established writers to create stories with adaptation potential. Perry originally revealed the book in July 2025 and has previously discussed her interest in espionage stories and centering the plot on two female operatives.
On TMZ, Perry said she does not plan to play the lead in the movie. Instead, she intends to bring in a higher-profile actress for the starring role while taking on a producing credit. She also left open the possibility of a small on-screen cameo, saying she still enjoys acting.
Perry confirmed that a director is already attached to the adaptation but declined to name that person, saying she isn’t ready to share all details. The book is scheduled to be released November 10, 2026, and Perry said the team is currently "working on the packaging" for the film project.
