How we date history

Every entry is a verified record with linked sources. Summaries are short; follow the links for the full story.
Dates are the local date where it happened. Taped television shows both dates and appears on both days, labelled "Taped" or "Aired".
When the exact day isn't established, we say so: month-only records appear under "Also in" that month, and uncertain dates get no exact anniversary count.
The same moment reported by several sources is one entry, with every source listed.
February 29 records appear on February 28 in years without a leap day. "Today" follows Toronto time.
